It is true -- keep your computer clean and it will operate better. If its kept in a room where there is heavy smoke, etc. .. just shoot it. A few q-tips withe the rubbing alcohol and hit all surfaces, including the mouse and keyboard - I at least feel a little safer against the other computer users. The hardest part of cleanliness amongst computers - is convincing the guests that its important. Most poeple just don't care -- which is disgusting, considering the amount of germs out there. Next time you are sick ... and you work at home ... think where your hands go ... and who else touches your stuff.
